I have recognized that I suffer from depression from time to time and instead of getting prescription based medicine, I initially tried St. John's Wort to see if it could offer a holistic alternative. I did not see any benefits from using this product at all, though I have heard it does help some. Talk to a doctor before trying this product.

This is a good mood elevator. So if you occasionally are hit with periods of mild depression, taking St. John's Wort will help get you out of mild doldrums. This is good for occasional periods of stress and anxiety, but I suggest you speak with a medical professional if you have serious issues with depression.

Pros:

Inexpensive, non-prescription, does elevate your mood when taken as directed. No side effects. All natural.

Cons:

Nothing for me, but you should check with a doctor for drug interactions. I understand you should not take this if you are on thyroid medication.
