Sluggish thyroids seem to be everywhere these days. Iodine is an essential for thyroid health, enough that our fine government insisted it be added to table salt (look next time you're in the store for iodized salt). They did this to prevent goiters and other thyroid issues. Now that so many are trying to limit their salt intake or have switched to sea salt, they are no longer getting enough iodine. Kelp is an excellent source of this essential. When I take it I find I am more energetic, my mind's a bit clearer, and my day goes better overall. According to (fallible) lab tests, my thyroid is working fine, according to my symptoms, it needs help. When I take kelp consistently, I'm not cold all the time, my eyebrows aren't as thin, and several other thyroid symptoms disappear. It's just what the doctor should have ordered! ;-) Years ago I craved salt terribly. I couldn't cook with it lest I do in the family via salt poisoning - I simply couldn't taste it. After taking kelp I no longer crave salt. My body was asking for the iodine in the salt but it took me a long time to figure that out.

Pros:
Cheap, easy to find, works wonderfully to boost thyroid function, increase energy and improve mood. At least for me, it dramatically decreased my salt intake.
Cons:
Can't think of a single one. ;-) |
