I flat out love this stuff! It is touted as a "all-natural free-radical-fighting" antioxidant. I have no doubt it is. I feel noticeably better when taking it. However, I have found some interesting benefits. It helps with allergies - better than taking C as an antihistamine! When taken with a meal, it also helps with digestion which is likely why I found it beneficial where acid-reflux is concerned. I typically stock ahead each time Swanson's has a buy-one-get-one sale. Research is beginning to suggest this may have cancer preventative properties. Please note important drug interactions below!

Works wonders! Helps take eliminate uncomfortable symptoms while offering antioxidant action at the same time. Win-win! Inexpensive, easy to find.
Cons:
Avoid this product if you are taking Felodipine [calcium channel blocker] as the flavonoid found in grapefruit is also found here. You should avoid this falvonoid!
If taking Estradiol [menopause or osteoporosis] please avoid this product as well.Grapefruit has been shown to effect estrogen. Quercetin is one of two flavonoids found in grapefruit and MAY cause the problem interactions. It has yet to be proven which if Quercetin by itself will have the same effect, however, avoid it in absence of further study.
If taking Cyclosporine [immune system suppression to avoid reject of transplanted organ] please discuss use of this product with your doctor BEFORE taking it as it does affect absorption of this medication.
Please avoid while pregnant as research seems to hint at the possibility (not probability) of birth defects. |
